The big question for the working man on the street though, how much will Moyes be paid for his failure?
On a reported salary of £5million per year plus bonuses (but let's assume those bonuses won't be forthcoming!) with a 6 year contract, he's managed only 10 months.
The traditional thing for football managers is that you have your contract paid up if you're sacked, although that is normally sorted at tribunal, and can also depend on how quickly the sacked manager finds another role.
But looking at in it's simplest terms, Moyes may be paid £30million for, by anyones standards, not doing the job he was paid for.
Based on points gained it's a crazy £526,315 per point in the league, and no other cups to grace the trophey cabinet.
Whoever the next manager, you can be sure they won't be handed a 6 year contract.
Edit: For the sake of balance and off the back of the comments below it's worth noting some of the other figures being mentioned with regards to Moyes's potential payout.
The dailymail (which I refuse to link to after their foodbank hatchet job) have it at £10m
Metro have it at £5mil
Lots of sites won't write about it because quite frankly, no one knows what the final amount will be at this time. Still fun to speculate and throw out some numbers though!
