Pinnacle Sports in closing to UK customers from the end of September. Their statement is that it's due to regulatory changes, more likely the point of consumption taxation that's made the most difference. Pinnacle Sports had some of the tightest lines and best odds, which makes them particularly susceptible to additional taxation. They simply won't be able to offer the service they want to, so have closed rather than turn into something they're not. Got to respect that. Even if you hate it. |
There's a good reason that Pinnacle Sports was the go to site for sharbing, odds and taking bets. They were the go to dutching site because of it. Now they're gone there's a gap in all our lives.
So what are the options? Who else offers a service that can compete with what Pinnacle were doing? Well if you'd asked a week ago a lot of people would've said they'd be decamping to SBO or 12Bet, but given both of them have closed to UK customers as well, there's not many options.
Of course there is BetFair, but whilst they are class leading for liquidity on exchanges, they can't always accommodate all the bets you want to place. Pinnacle gave you options on handicap markets that could take the wagers that BetFair often couldn't.
It seems in the game of matched betting and advantage play, when one door closes another usually opens to fill the gap. With Pinnacle closing, I'm not too sure at the moment.
Personally I'll be using Smarkets a lot more. They're still not as polished as some of the other exchanges, but with regular 0% commission events and free deposits and withdrawals (possibly the only down mark for Pinnacles) they are now a real contender.
Sign up to Smarkets below and start your post Pinnacle betting with a first deposit bonus as well.
