Not the most outstanding result for the week, but I'm happy with the profit for the month, and I continue to learn my craft which can only be a good thing. Key thing I've learnt this month is that a small float is a killer. I say small, it's much bigger than it was, but winning a long odds bet at 18Bet has put a hell of a lot of my float out of commission and tied me into some meaty wagering. There's profit to realise there, but it's just taking time and resource to extract it so not ideal. If I had another grand in the bank then the profits would be much better week in week out, so the more growth the better. Basically the rich get richer!
Onto the blog then
Friday
The fall out from last Thursday's 18Bet punt is that I have £600 of wagering to unlock my money and I begin the onerous task today. It involves wagering stakes of £25 a time at odds of over 1.80. Place my bets in multiples of £25 backs and lay at £20 with close odds (within 10%) and grasp any arbs I can find. If all goes to plan I'll protect the £80 profit I've got from this offer so far. Elsewhere I open a Betclic account as they have lots of world cup price boosts (no sign up bonus, but you should definitely get an account), back £30 on England to win with slight underlay and take a small profit. It's the last day of lads free spins and that adds £4 to the kitty.
Day Profit : £12.57
Saturday
Groves vs Froch 2 unfinished business has me backing Groves to pull off a shock on Lads £5 free on games if you predict the winner (they've upped their sign up bonus to £100 for the World Cup as well, get involved). Also back Froch to win at Bet Victor with money back if there is a knockout (an If bet if you weren't sure why I was on it), of course give it a good lay at Betfair as well. There is a knockout but it is Groves who hits the deck so although my bet wins I don't get the freebie added on. Got 1.75 at Bet Victor and 1.71 at Betfair so slightly up on the £25 as underlayed to £20.
Day Profit: +£1.20
Sunday
More 18Bet wagering (story of my life!) but only put on one 1 back and lay, Fluminese at 2.06 to 2.14, they lose. Can't really look at the laptop as I've a hangover that feels like Froch was hitting me not Groves the night before.
Day Profit -£5
Monday
I manage to pick up a handy shock boost at Party Bets for AIK up to 2.00 which flashes up on the chat board at The Gambling Times and I get £10 on it, only 1.44 to lay but I play it safe and lay a full £10 that leaves me a little up with no risk (every little helps). I also find some close odds at 18Bet on another match Norrkoping (no idea!) and they win to turn a little more profit
Day Profit: +£10.50
Tuesday
More 18Bet bets, knocking them off at £25 go, get 3 out of the way; Japan who win, Georgia (the cause of all this!) & Czech Republic who don't. leaving me £5 down.
Day Loss: £-5
Wednesday
Use England for an 18Bet today, they of course blow a lead, the ox gets injured and it all adds up to a pretty bad night (was a 2nd string eleven though so still got high hopes for the World Cup). Free bet at Sky for £10, that gets stuck on Belgium to win the World Cup at enhanced odds of 22/1. Leaving the lay until just before the start of tournament, hoping for the lay to come in a bit. No tasty free spin offers and a lack of offers on the world cup warm up friendlies, however I hope this is the calm before the storm of the world cup frenzy!! Also even honest 'arry Redknapp can't tempt me into taking the 1966/1 for England to win the world cup at 666bet! Seriously, that bet won't get paid out; either England don't win the World Cup (likely), or they do but it's cheaper to fold the company than pay the debt!
Day Loss: -£5
Thursday
Couple more 18Bet bets; Moldova who win and Grindavik who don't. None of these bets are arbs or off odds monkey so should not be flagged anywhere, I'm hoping I just look like a mug punter working through my bonus, don't want to burn any accounts this early in my career. For the record at odds of around 1.90-2.4 I have picked 4 winners and 5 losers from these 9 bets so a fiver down overall (or still £75 up!), still have £300 odd to clear. Get on Brazil at 5/1 to win the world cup outright at Betfair (thanks to The Gambling Times live chat!), putting on £20 that qualifies me for a free £5 bet with every win. This ties in nicely with Bet Bright's offer I took last week – I'm now going to be getting a free £10 every time Brazil win at home, which should be at least a couple of times...........until they meet England!
Day Profit: £0
Week Profit: +£11
Month of May Total profit: +£580
All adds up to a slow week profit wise, due mainly to those 18Bet bets. This game can certainly be a grind sometimes, but I'm not complaining as the accounts are ticking over and I'll have cleared 18Bet by the time the world cup starts.
My love this week is BetClic and the boosts they're doing, licence to print a few quid everytime they're announced, thanks again to the folks on The Gambling Times chat box for keeping us in the loop with them.
Also BetBright who have got some excellent World Cup offers and have upped their risk free sign up bonus to £30.
