Hopefully writing this out now will let me put it to bed, and let it be a lesson not just to me, but to everyone who reads this. I'm going to say it loud and proud, and in the full knowledge that it in some ways almost dimishes me as a man, but.............
Not reading the T&Cs can be very costly!
Friday
Party Poker Bets (no sign up bonus, but decent boosts are as good as for as long as they last!) has a shock boost every day and I win money on Rosenburg getting them boosted to 3.00. Not a lot going on offers wise in the England friendly (everyone's keeping their powder dry for the big event now) and not a lot happens on the pitch either.
Saturday
More World cup bets placed, these are covered in Wednesday's entry, also continue with 18Bet wagering. As I look back now, these were a simpler time. I knew what I needed to do at 18Bet, and was slowly but surely chipping away at it.................if only it could last.
Sunday
Couple more 18Bet's at the normal arb rates...............starting to get misty eyed about it now.
Couple of no risk spins at lads and Stan James but no win on neither
Monday
It hits me. It hits me like a brick to my face, then as if the brick moves to weigh heavy in my stomach.
I've made a large miscalculation 18Bet, the wagering time limit runs out before I have finished resulting in a loss of £230.
What I thought (and had written down as) 60 days wagering, was actually 21 days. If you have opened 18bet account recently check how long you have left!!!!
Always, always, always carefully check T&Cs!! Feel pretty down about the whole thing. It's a waste of time and money, and 18Bet had tied up quite a lot of my float for a while so I also rue the missed opporunities that having the money in there cost me. A wise man tells me not to do anything else for the day, else you could end up chasing losses and making even more mistakes.
Most people in this game will have a similar story where their own mistake has cost them. Provided you learn from it, deal with and move on, then it's fine. There's always another offer to get you back in the black. This mistake has cost me a week of effort (financially), but I still break even overall, so let's move on.
Tuesday
Open Totepool account and get a free £25 bet, have a qualifying bet on a horse, and "win" 95p at Lads on a free spins there.
And just like that.......Boom! We're back into the money making as apposed to mistake making business!
Wednesday
I complete my world cup book, much of it will no longer available but I'll let you know most of what I have got on!!
Most of this was placed before today of course, it was a matter of storing up offers and price boosts at best odds that I saw them and getting them laid today
Brazil at 5.00 at Betfair for £20, £5 free bet on all their group games
Brazil at 5.00 at Betfred £50, laid at 4.30
£25 on Brazil BetBright 4.75, free £5 bet every time they win
Belgium at 22/1 at Sky laid at 21
Mexico to beat Cameroon at SpiffX with my free 10 Euros
£20 on Argentina at 6.00 money back if Brazil win (should have backed someone else)
£25 on France at 26 at Bwin laid at £25
£20 at Germany at 8.00 laid at 7.00
£10 at Ivory Coast to win group at 6.00 laid at 4.80 at Party Poker bets
£12.50 at 32Red on Germany at 9.00 laid at 7.80
£12.50 on Spain at 8.00 laid at 7.80
Nominated Argentina at 18Bet and get free £5 bet per goal (need to bet min £5 per match). So only need them to score what..............46 goals in the tournament to get my money back!
England 28/1 at Lads shop
Phew!! And that's just the pre World Cup betting. There are hundreds more match by match offers, not that I'll be doing all of them, but if you're interested in placing a bet, then this is the World Cup betting spreadsheet you need for it.
Thursday
Hoping that bad luck (or idiocy) doesn't really come in three, as I make another slip up. A free group game bet from Betfair is fogotten about and expires. Not massive, but it's £10 wasted and this week I didn't feel like just shaking that off! To finish up there's a risk free £10 at Winner casino, but lady luck takes a fart in my face and I win nothing.
In conclusion, I'm not going to add it all up, I'll wait for a full account audit on that, but the £230 loss has been turned around over the week. It's a set back, but you live and learn and move on. No other option in that regard.
Good job it's the World Cup which is matched betting and advantage play on crack for a whole month.
