666Bet have shut up shop, not sure at this point whether that's permanently or just temporarily, but they have certainly had their Gambling Commission licence suspended. Doesn't look good for 666Bet, or customers who had funds in there, but this isn't following the same pattern as BetButler and Canbet, so what is going on? |
Looking back to last year, there were withdrawal complaints stacking up in November. This was, according to 666, due to the platform they were using and it being unable to support the traffic they were creating. They moved to their own platform in December and everything seemed fine.
Come Cheltenham there were special bonuses for new and existing customers, and reports of them being messed up, some people receiving stake returned on what should have been stake not returned bonuses.
Behind the scenes Barry Martin the founder (and also involved in Gutshot poker which had previously folded owing a lot of customers a lot of money) left at the beginning of the year, and there are now reports of the closure being linked to a tax avoidance scheme on the Isle of Mann. Worse than that, money laundering has been ventured as the reason the Gambling Commission (in a rare instance of quick action) suspended the licence.
There is still hope that customers will receive their funds back, but it would be a brave person to suggest that it will be a priority for either the Gambling Commission or 666Bet. If they can't confirm the providence of the funds, then how can customers get theirs back?
The message on 666bet.com states "all pending withdrawals will be processed in due course". Well if they had the money for the withdrawals, then why were there such delays just after Cheltenham? Why hold back on those payments unless the suspension wasn't actually a shock to them?
As ever, The Gambling Times 666Bet complaint post will have all the latest information and will be the best place to find answers to your questions.
Good luck.
