I'm, dreaming, of a white.....Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. The problem with the traditional white Christmas, is that they simply don't happen very often! Even when you think you remember one, it might not have been the techincal white Christmas, which actually requires snow to fall on the day, not just be there when you wake up. In terms of betting on a white Christmas, it's also worth noting that snow must fall on the Met Office London, no where else counts. |
The bookmakers know what they're doing as well. They're not going to take massive bets on something as unpredictable as the weather, but they know a white Christmas is only reported (for London which is what counts) with a frequency of around 6%.
Only a few of the bookmakers have opened their markets, but the best odds are available at BetFred with their 1/8 on that no snow will fall on London on Christmas day.
Will we have a white Christmas in England this year? Well maybe the weather bomb will impact the odds, but it seems the forecasters and bookies are confident that we won't be having a white Christmas this year.
Sorry snow lovers, you'll just have to wait for January and February.......when you're far more likely to get snow in Britain.
